Moscow and Beijing have the right to normal economic cooperation; Washington’s export restrictions on Chinese enterprises cooperating with Russian ones are illegal.
As Day.Az reports with reference to TASS, official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Mao Ning stated this at a briefing.
“China and Russia have the right to normal trade and economic cooperation, and this cooperation should not be disrupted or limited. We have always opposed illegal unilateral sanctions by the United States,” Mao Ning said.
She added that China resolutely opposes the United States’ “abuse of export control instruments.” Beijing calls on Washington to stop politicizing issues of trade and technological cooperation, Mao Ning noted. She said China will take necessary measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.
On April 10, the US Department of Commerce decided to impose export restrictions on three companies from Russia, six from China, and two more from the United Arab Emirates. As follows from the document, the Bureau of Industry and Security Affairs, part of the US Department of Commerce, states that these “organizations, in the assessment of the US government, act contrary to the interests of national security or foreign policy of the United States.”
As a result of the restrictions being introduced, suppliers will not be able to send American goods to legal entities subject to sanctions by the US Department of Commerce without first obtaining a special license. At the same time, when considering license applications, a “presumption of refusal” will apply, that is, most likely, such applications will be rejected.
