The camera of the show “Elene” met her Eleni Prokopiouwho granted a rare interview.
The well-known actress and dancer, in her first interview after years, opened her home and talked about her return to the theater, her years in the cinema and the quiet life she has today with her granddaughters.
“I wasn’t interested in being the star, I always backed off”
“I returned to the theater after many years. In the performance “My girl” I lend my voice. I was convinced by my granddaughter to participate in the show that she is also performing. My two granddaughters are my adoration, I am a good grandmother,” she initially said Eleni Prokopiou.
“I had slit eyes and they called me “Chinese”. I wasn’t watching if I was impressive, I was watching “Helen”. I see myself in the movies and I ask my granddaughter “is that me?” I wasn’t interested in being the protagonist, I always held back, I didn’t say “I’m me and no one else””.
Eleni Prokopiou admitted that her love was dancing.
“Dance was my life, I danced since I was a baby and I was the first.”
My favorite movie was “Date in the Air”. Rena Vlachopoulou was in her own world, she had her sense of humor, she made jokes. We hung out with Rena because my husband was a humorist and they liked him a lot. Men approached me, but my mom and dad held me tight,” he adds.
“I have loved in my life, I have had two marriages. My second marriage was with Antonis Syrigos and it lasted 50 years. He gave me the most important thing, my daughter.”
“I was full when I had my daughter”
“I was pregnant in the movie “The Princess Mockingbird”. I didn’t know I was pregnant and the doctor told me not to be afraid. I was full when I had my daughter and I wanted to live the experience of my child and my husband.”
What did he say about television?
“I love watching Survivor and yelling at the matches.”
What is its relationship with time?
“I’m not reconciled to anything, I’m working on it. I think why not be the way I was. I don’t dream anymore, I want to have my girls and admire them.”
