The International Monetary Fund (IMF) expects global GDP growth to slow to 2.8% a year by the end of the decade. This was reported in the fund’s report, Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.

This is significantly lower than the historical average of 3.8%, the fund noted.

“In the absence of major technological advances or structural reforms, we expect global economic growth to reach 2.8% by 2030,” the IMF said.

According to the fund’s experts, higher growth rates observed in the past are achievable only with political intervention or the use of new technologies. In particular, the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies could add 0.8 percentage points to global economic growth.

In addition, the IMF estimates that measures to strengthen market competition, trade openness, and financial access could boost global growth by about 1.2 percentage points by 2030.
