The Prime Minister-designate of the House of Representatives, Osama Hammad, met with notables of the city of Derna.
Hammad said: “We do not need the international community and we are able to build Derna ourselves,” adding: “The international community is still engaged in reconstruction studies, and we are close to completing the reconstruction projects there.”
Hammad confirmed that “allocations for the reconstruction of the city are available, and the men are working day and night to complete the reconstruction work.”

Yesterday, the Prime Minister appointed by the House of Representatives, Osama Hammad, conducted an inspection tour of the city of Derna, after performing the Eid prayer in the presence of the President of the Presidential Council, Dr. Muhammad Al-Manfi, the Director General of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, Engineer Balqasim Haftar, and the Derna Social Council.
Hammad was briefed on the progress of the Development and Reconstruction Fund’s work during a meeting he held at the Fund’s headquarters in the city of Derna, which was opened by the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Director-General of the Fund. The conditions of the city in general were also discussed.
Hammad appreciated all the efforts made by the General Command of the Armed Forces, led by Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, the House of Representatives headed by Counselor Aguila Saleh, and the management of the Development and Reconstruction Fund, through which the city witnessed an unprecedented reconstruction process for many decades, stressing that the Libyan government will launch it after Eid al-Adha. Al-Mubarak is a package of projects targeting all parts of the country.
The Prime Minister-designate stressed that the city of Derna has a special nature, and this is what resulted in the establishment of the Fund for the Reconstruction of Derna and the affected areas, explaining that most of the projects in the city of Derna will be completed at the end of this year.
He pointed out that the Libyan government is performing its role to the fullest extent and with all the capabilities available to it and is still working to provide the necessary needs of the citizen.
