Domestic violence is developing into “gangrene” for Greek society, as incidents are now a daily occurrence.
Only within a 24-hour period, specifically on April 6, 26 incidents were reported to the competent Police Services throughout the Territory.
The escalation of incidents is also reflected in the official data of the Ministry of Citizen Protection, as 2023 “closed” with 13,342 citizens who reported being victims of domestic violence.
The number of men who report domestic violence is sensational – in previous years there were no similar reports – as of the 13,342 incidents in 2023, 3,456 involve male victims and 9,886 female victims.
According to analysts, 2024 in terms of the explosion of such incidents is predicted to be ominous as within just two months (from January 1, 2024 to February 29, 2024), they have recorded 2,091 incidents.
