Taiwan’s armed forces will hold the Hanguang military exercise, during which they will practice breaking the conditional blockade of the island. This was reported by the Taibei Times newspaper with reference to the representative of the Taiwanese defense department, Major General Dong Jixing, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.

According to the event plan, Taiwanese military personnel will have to repel the mock enemy, who, under the pretext of conducting exercises, deployed troops and began an operation to blockade the island. To unblock Taiwan’s communications with the outside world, the armed forces are using aircraft, ships, shore-based missile systems and drones. When organizing the exercises, the experience of conflicts in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip was taken into account, Dong Jixing said.

The Hanguang command and staff stage, during which the American Joint Theater Level Simulation automated combat simulation system will be used, will take place April 19-26. The Taiwanese military will be able to demonstrate their skills at the training grounds on July 22-26.

The Hanguang exercise is Taiwan’s largest and has been held annually since 1984. All branches of the island’s armed forces take part in them.

Taiwan has been governed by its own administration since 1949, when the remnants of the Kuomintang forces led by Chiang Kai-shek (1887-1975) fled to the island after being defeated in the Chinese Civil War. According to the official position of the PRC, supported by most countries, including Russia, the island is one of the Chinese provinces.
