3 times in elections in June in a dozen villages, now a regional town can also elect a new local authority

A new election of municipal councilors will have to be held in Haskovo.

The vote there was finally annulled,

after, with a decision dated April 8, the SAC reaffirmed the decision of the Administrative Court in Haskovo on its liquidation.

6 formations appealed the results of the elections on October 29 of this year. for the 41-seat municipal council – PP-DB, BSP, “Vazrazhdane”, VMRO, “We are coming” and “Bulgaria of the Regions”. According to the court’s decision, the ballots in all 151 sections were recounted.

GERB took the most mandates in Haskovo – 14. DPS had 9 councilors, “Bulgarian Voice” – 4, and PP-DB, “We are coming” and “Bulgaria of the Regions” each have three. “Vazrazhdane” and BSP have two each, and ITN – with 1.

The recount has shown

a result different from that reported in the protocols

of the SIC. The discrepancies found are actually small – 28,596 actual votes instead of the recorded 28,657, 6,789 invalid ballots instead of 6,705, and 711 “I support no one” instead of the 747 recorded in the minutes.

But there is also a difference in the number of those who voted according to the signatures in the voter lists – 36,113, and the number of ballots found in the boxes – 36,039. That is. some persons have signed, but their ballot is missing.

There is also a difference between the sum of the actual votes, invalid ballots and “I do not support anyone” and the total number of ballots in the ballot boxes – 35,814 to 36,039.

Until new municipal council elections are held, the one from the previous term (2019 – 2023) becomes effective again.

However, 19 of the dismissed municipal councilors will remain so

– they were also in the previous OS. One of the previous members has died.

Partial local elections will be scheduled by presidential decree. So far, there are no indications of when, but in nearly a dozen villages in various regions, partial elections have already been set for 23.06. Which means that in June they will vote there in three types of elections – 2 in 1 for the European and Bulgarian parliaments on the 9th, and two weeks later for local rulers.

And in Dobrich, the Administrative Court counted the votes for councilors, but the Supreme Administrative Court overturned its decision a week ago.

The case is pending in Sofia,

filed by Vanya Grigorova against the election of the mayor Vasil Terziev. The first instance is expected to announce its decision in May.

A total of 248 appeals contesting the results of last autumn’s elections were submitted to the Supreme Administrative Court by candidates for mayors and councilors in almost all municipalities.
