A Malaysian beauty pageant winner has been disqualified after a video showed her dancing with men while on vacation.
According to Singapore media ‘Asia One’, Viru Nikah Terinisip (24), winner of the 2023 ‘Unduk Ngadau Johor Beauty Pageant’, was recently accused in Thailand of wearing a revealing outfit and dancing with male dancers. He was stripped of his tournament crown.
The Kadazandusun Cultural Association (KDCA), which hosts the beauty pageant, issued a statement on the 8th (local time), saying, “We are revoking Terinsif’s winning title,” adding, “The mythical legend ‘Huminodun’ symbolizes noble spirit and soul.” “Because it is not appropriate for the winner of a beauty pageant in honor of to act in such a way.”
The association continued, “The organizers learned that Terinsif had gone on a personal vacation to Thailand with his family. “Complaints and complaints poured in over the video filmed at the vacation spot,” he said, adding, “Our association does not want to draw unnecessary attention to this issue.”
The Unduk Ngadau Johor Beauty Pageant is a contest honoring ‘Huminodun’, a woman who appears in the folklore of the Dusun people, an indigenous race of Borneo Island. Fuminodun is portrayed as someone who sacrificed herself for her famine-stricken tribesmen.
KDCA’s position is that, regardless of the meaning of ‘Fumino Dun’, the winner of the competition should not be subject to gossip due to privacy issues. “If Terrine Schiff had been an ordinary woman, (the video) would not have been an issue,” KDCA said in her statement.
“(My actions) were careless,” Terinsiff said in a video posted on his Facebook page. “I will lay down the championship title with honor and humility,” he said, admitting his mistake.
