jpnn.comJAKARTA – Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly Fadel Muhammad hopes that Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri will be a momentum for consolidation between the nation’s children after the series of stages of voting and counting votes for the 2024 presidential election ends.
“It just so happens that the months of Ramadan and Eid coincide with the 2024 General Election series, where in the contestation, all the nation’s children are divided because of differences in choices. “Especially the three big boxes during the presidential election, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar voters, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran voters, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD voters,” said Fadel in a statement received in Jakarta, Friday (12/4).
This was conveyed by Fadel Muhammad during the “open house” event on the second day of Eid al-Fitr 1445 H at his residence, Jakarta, Thursday (11/4).
According to him, Eid al-Fitr, which is a day of victory for Muslims after a full month of fasting, can be a day where unity and integrity are knitted together again.
“I really feel the unity on this holiday, starting from the Eid prayers, visiting the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, followed by visiting national figures as well as former Presidents and Vice Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia,” he said.
He assessed that the momentum of unity and oneness was also felt when the “open house” event was held at his residence.
“At this event, all the people, no matter whether they chose Mr. Anies, Mr. Prabowo or Mr. Ganjar, everyone hugged each other, asked each other and apologized. This atmosphere will be maintained as much as possible forever,” he said.
He also hopes that the feud due to differences in choices in the election will not last long.
