In a statement to MAP, on the sidelines of a briefing by the Permanent Mission of the State of Palestine in Vienna on the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, marked by the participation of 41 countries, including Morocco, represented by the Ambassador Permanent Representative of Morocco in Vienna, Azzeddine Farhane, the Palestinian diplomat welcomed a “gesture of high humanitarian dimensions from His Majesty the King, President of the Al Quds Committee, which comes at the start of the holy month of Ramadan”.
Mr. Abdel-Shafi noted that “this fraternal initiative comes in the wake of the constant support of Moroccans who have always stood alongside the Palestinian people, in particular during this serious crisis that Palestine and mainly the Gaza Strip are going through. ”, expressing ”his deep gratitude and esteem to His Majesty the King, the Moroccan government and people”.
“This Royal initiative does not only concern the population of Gaza, but also the needy people in the city of Al Quds,” noted the ambassador, adding that it goes beyond the symbolic framework to materialize on the ground through direct action in support of the Palestinian people.
His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God help him, President of the Al Quds Committee, had given His Highest Instructions to deploy a humanitarian operation of food aid, by land, intended for the Palestinian population of Gaza and the City Saint of Al Quds.
This aid, which coincides with the start of the holy month of Ramadan, intervenes to ease the suffering of the Palestinian populations, and in particular their most vulnerable categories.
