Mayank Yadav, the young pacer of Lucknow Super Giants, caught everyone’s attention with his appearance in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He bowled only 8 overs. Because, within those 8 overs, that was the highest number of deliveries of more than 155 kmph in the history of IPL.
However, Mayank left the field after playing his third match with a side strain injury. Already missed one match. Discussions are going on when this pacer, who is being considered for the World Cup team, will return to the field. Lucknow coach Justin Langer could not give any good news. According to his comments, Mayank may have to stay out of the field for two more matches.
Mayank has the ability to consistently hit the ball at a speed of 150 km per hour. Also presented himself as a perfect line-length wicket-taker bowler. He took six wickets in two matches. So, he was at the center of discussion. But, injuries have dampened that heat somewhat. However, everyone is looking forward to seeing him on the field.
Lucknow’s next two matches are against Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders. Mayank is uncertain in these two matches. Team coach Justin Langer said, ‘Mayank felt a problem in the upper hip before the last match. Not much, maybe a pain level of 1 on a scale of 10. We do MRI scans. There is very little swelling. So, we are very hopeful, he will recover and return to bowling soon.’
Lucknow wants to take time to get fit with this 21-year-old pacer. The team is giving him time for that. Now the plan is to get Mayank fit for the April 19 match against Chennai Super Kings.
Lucknow bought Mayank in the 2022 auction for 2 million rupees. He did not play in IPL 2023 due to injury. This time he got down in full fit and started showing the best rhythm. However, an injury sustained in the third match ultimately kept him in limbo.
