The recent publication of the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024 has highlighted the notable performance of Colombian universities in research and academic excellence. According to this prestigious international ranking, the country’s main private and public institutions are among the most outstanding in various areas of knowledge.
The private universities that have stood out in this analysis are the Universidad de los Andes, the Universidad Javeriana and the Universidad del Rosario. On the other hand, among public institutions, the the National University, the University of Antioquia and the Industrial University of Santander.
What does this edition of the ranking reveal?
The QS World University Rankings by Subject is an independent comparative analysis that evaluates the performance of more than 1,500 universities from 96 countries around the world. This assessment takes into account the opinion of more than 240,000 employers and academics on research reputation in 55 specific areas of knowledge, grouped into five general areas.
Main areas with Colombian presence:
In the general area of social sciences, which includes economics, law, political and international studies, and business, the country’s private universities have obtained outstanding performance. The University of the Andes leads this field, followed closely by the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, the Universidad Externado de Colombia, the Universidad del Rosario and the Universidad de la Sabana.
