The performances of Jean Genet’s play “The Slaves” continue, staged at the Camperio Theater from the Central Stage of DI.PE.THE. Ioannina, directed by Yiannis Kontou.
It is a one-act theatrical drama, which explores the relationships between ruler and ruled, regarding the social roles of people.
A 20th century play, in which we follow an afternoon in the life of Claire and Solange, the Lady’s servants. Whenever she is away, the two of them, within the narrow confines of the Lady’s house, play a game trying to free themselves from the life that is suffocating them. Genet’s work, a modern tragedy written in the 60s, is based on the true story of the Papin brothers, who shook France in the 30s.
Aphrodite Athanasiadou, Kika Zachariadou and Yiannis Kontos are on stage. The scenography and costumes are by Ioanna Lisgara, the original music by Vassilis Lagdas and the lighting by Orestis Tatsis.
