The Israeli military is on high alert due to the situation with Iran, but there are no new orders for the civilian population, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Daniel Hagari said on Thursday, Day.Az reports, citing Interfax.
“First of all, there are no changes in the instructions for the Israeli rear command,” The Times of Israel quotes him as saying.
The Logistics Command is an IDF military district dedicated to civil defense and search and rescue functions.
“We are on alert, seriously prepared for various situations, constantly assessing the situation,” Hagari continued.
He recalled that this morning the head of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), General Eric Kurilla, arrived in Israel for talks with IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi about regional challenges. Hagari stressed that Israel and the United States maintain a strong strategic relationship.
He also said that the IDF has been developing offensive capabilities in recent months, and that Israel has a layered air defense system that has proven effective in the current conflict, intercepting thousands of targets. “But defense can never be airtight,” he added.
