After failing to meet and increase the minimum work program on a deepwater contract in the Gulf of Mexico on the coast of Tabascothe National Hydrocarbons Commission issued a sanction of 32 million dollars against Chevron Energy from Mexico.
This was determined by the Mexican regulatory body during its tenth extraordinary session held yesterday, where Armando Doroteo Garcíafrom Legal Unit explained that the contract CNH-R02-L04-AP-CS-G03/2018 has as operator Chevron Energy Mexico and as a contractor to Pemex Exploración in addition to Inpex.
He revealed that on February 1, 2024 the Legal Directorate of Assignments and Contracts requested to follow up on the contract and rule on the conventional penalty.
This contract, he explained, ended on November 11, 2023 and it was subsequently determined that the contractor did not execute the entire of the commitments committed in a minimum work program.
The area to be reviewed is approximately 120 kilometers offshore, with an area of 2,878 square kilometers.
The president of the CNH, Augustín Díaz, He stressed that although Chevron is the operator, Pemex Exploración must establish a link.
