jpnn.comJAKARTA – “Happy Easter. Minal Aidin Wal Faizin. This mosque does not belong to Muslims and this church does not belong to Catholics, but these two buildings belong to Lewotana.”

This sentence sounded solemnly echoing in front of two well-standing houses of worship, the Al-Jihad Pepageka Mosque and the Santo Hendrikus Pepageka Chapel in Kelubagolit District, Adonara, East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

A loud voice was heard, accompanied by thunderous applause, in response to the noble call.

Fransiska Mariana Nuka as reported Betweenreported that on the second day of the Eid al-Fitr celebration, Thursday (11/4) afternoon, women and men, young and old from Pepageka Village carried out traditions passed down from generation to generation since the 1970s.

Every religious holiday, both Islamic and Catholic, next to the two buildings, residents perform Public Wai, a tradition of drinking water together.

The General Wai begins with remarks and wisdom conveyed by leaders of both religions, community leaders, youth leaders, and village heads.

After the welcome, Catholic and Muslim young people delivered food and drinks for all residents to eat.

After eating together, Muslim residents stood in a row in front of the two buildings.

Happy Easter. May you be among those who have happy returns. This mosque does not belong to Muslims & this church does not belong to Catholics, but these 2 buildings belong to Lewotana.
