In Tamil Nadu, the second wave of corona virus outbreak hit hard last year. As a result, schools and colleges were closed. Following the decline in corona spread, schools reopened from Class 9 to Class 12 in September 2021. Similarly, the first primary schools were opened in November last year. But nursery and kindergartens are not open.

Meanwhile, after the Corona Third Wave impact subsided, schools have been reopening and conducting classes for students in grades 1 through 12 since the last 1st.
In this context, Chief Minister MK Stalin held consultations with senior officials of the Health Department on the Corona situation and new relaxations at the Chennai General Secretariat. Following this, the curfew in force with various relaxations has been extended till March 2. As a part of this, the Government of Tamil Nadu has given permission to open Nursery Schools (LKG, UKG) and Kindergartens (Play Schools) from the 16th.
