More than 1,600 houses and over 790 agricultural plots were drained in the flood-affected Orenburg region in one day, the press service of the regional administration reported, as quoted by TASS.

According to the information from this morning, 17,203 yards and 12,213 houses, including 123 residential blocks, were flooded in the region, writes BTA.

“For the current 24 hours, 1,645 houses and 794 farm plots in five settlements have been drained,” according to the announcement. 13,194 people were evacuated from the flooded houses and adjacent agricultural plots. There are 1,145 people in the temporary accommodation centers, of which 212 are children.

In 21 municipalities of the district, 32 bridges were closed to traffic. Traffic on federal highways is not restricted. There is a threat of overflow in three sections of two federal highways.

The regional authorities emphasized that in the settlements isolated from the floods, the commercial establishments are supplied with food products, the recipients of social assistance have stocks of food and medicine.

The level of the Ural River in the Orenburg region is 9.27 m at a dangerous level of 7 m, the mayor of Orsk, Vasiliy Kozupitsa, reported, quoted by the Gazeta.ru website. He added that the retreat of the waters will not take 2-3 days, but a week and a half – two or more.

The flood situation is rapidly deteriorating, the mayor added.

The length of the wave that is approaching Kurgan due to the release of water in Kazakhstan is 30-50 km, added the governor of the Kurgan region Vadim Shumkov at a meeting with the population and employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, TASS reported. He said that according to the agreement with Kazakhstan, the release of water is planned to be at the level of 70 cubic meters per second.
