San Salvador. The Gloria Kriete Foundation (FGK) opened its new call for scholarships for the Oportunidades Program, a full-time modality at the San Salvador and Santa Ana headquarters, which seeks to empower young Salvadorans with high-quality education, digital transformation and employability , from high school to higher education.
Oportunidades is a permanent program of FGK since 2007, and supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) since 2021; This promotes inclusive education through scholarships for young people of academic excellence, complementing their high school studies with soft skills, learning English, technology and other integral skills for their future.
Registration is open from April 11 to August 31, 2024. Those interested may apply in person at the Santa Ana and San Salvador headquarters or virtually on the website https://oportunidades.org.sv.
Those interested must have limited resources, be currently studying eighth grade, have good behavior, a high desire to improve, an average of 8.0 or more and complete the psychological and academic testing phases.
One of the pillars of the program is to train future professionals with a comprehensive teaching method that promotes educational transformation. The young people who are part of Oportunidades develop skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and active, autonomous and flexible learning, among others.
During these 17 years, the Oportunidades Program has impacted the lives of more than 4,300 young people, 16 alliances have been signed with universities, more than 1,800 scholarships for higher education have been awarded, 783 people have completed the Employability Certification Program and have been placed 944 young people in internships and permanent positions.
