Netflix released the poster and trailer for the 3rd season of “Bridgerton”, which will be divided into two parts – as has been the new practice for the platform’s biggest hits. The preview reveals almost the entire main plot of the season, including the twists and turns.

The new episodes will skip a book in the adaptation of Julia Quinn’s work. After adapting “The Duke and I”, the first book in the literary saga, focusing on Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the Bridgerton family, and “The Viscount Who Loved Me”, in which the most eligible bachelor of prom season is Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), season 3 will focus on “The Secrets of Colin Bridgerton”, the fourth book. The plot deals with the relationship between Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan).

The change makes sense in the context of the series, as their relationship had more development in the first two seasons than Benedict’s (Luke Thompson) arc, the focus of the third book, “A Perfect Knight”. Furthermore, in the last episode of season 2, Penelope heard Colin say that he would never marry her, the hook of the entire romantic plot premise.

What happens in season 3

The plot will delve into Penélope’s relationship with her best friend and longtime passion. In previous seasons, Penelope had to deal with unrequited love, but now the relationship takes on a new dynamic, with Colin offering to help her find a husband. But this brings the two even closer together. And when Penelope starts attracting attention for an engagement, Colin finds himself devastated and jealous. All this without knowing about her friend’s double life, like the gossipy Gossip G… I mean, Lady Whistledown.

The new additions to the cast include Daniel Francis (“Stand by Me”), Sam Phillips (“The Crown”), James Phoon (“Wreck”), Hannah Dodd (“The Garden of the Forgotten”), a new portrayer of the character Francesca Bridgerton, and Hannah New (“Black Sails”), who will have an important role. She will play Lady Tilley Arnold, a young widow who enjoys the privileges and powers of being in charge of her ex-husband’s estate. Unlike most of the women in the plot, she lives on her own terms, with financial independence and sexual freedom.

The first part arrives on May 16th, while the second comes a month later, on June 13th.
