Danny Avdia‘s fourth and best season in the NBA came to an end tonight (Sunday), when his Washington suffered its 67th loss (compared to 15 wins) – this time 132:122 away to Boston. The Israeli who was wonderful in the second half of the season this time was restrained, and finished with 9 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and a block in 31 minutes on the floor
Both teams showed up with missing rosters – Washington was missing, among others, Kyle Kuzma, Jordan Paul, Tyus Jones, Rishon Holmes and Marvin Bagley, while the Celtics arrived without their big six – Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday, Derek White and Al Horford.
After a tight first quarter, Boston opened fire, with Peyton Pritchard (38 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists) blazing from outside the arc and making it 59:69 at the end of the first half. In the third quarter the gap grew, and from there the Wizards no longer knew how to come back. The guest’s leading scorer was actually Eugene O’Moroy who contributed 24 points, but as mentioned it was not enough for Washington who finished the season in 14th place in the Eastern Conference.
