The Azerbaijani women’s basketball team won the licensed tournament in Hong Kong and won a ticket to the Olympics.
As reported by İdman.biz, our team consisting of Dina Ulyanova, Tiffany Hayes, Alexandra Mollenhauer and Mercedes Walker defeated Poland in the final – 18:17.
The start of the game was left to the opponents, but our basketball players were able to catch up with them in the score and won in overtime.
Thus, for the first time in history, Azerbaijan will be represented in basketball at the Olympics.

The Azerbaijani women’s basketball team reached the finals of the licensing tournament in Hong Kong.
According to İdman.biz, in the semifinals our team consisting of Dina Ulyanova, Tiffany Hayes, Alexandra Mollenhauer and Mercedes Walker achieved victory in Hungary – 21:19.
The match turned out to be quite tough, the fight went point to point. Our basketball players and the Hungarians took the lead one by one. The ending of the match remained with the Azerbaijani team, which won with a difference of two points.
Another finalist was determined in the match between the teams of the Netherlands and Poland. Poland won and reached the final.
The winner of the tournament will receive a ticket to the Olympics.
