Mumbai Indians have bought Ishant Kishan, who is expected to be one of the most expensive players in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction, for Rs 15.25 crore.

Ishant Kishan has become the second most expensive player in the history of IPL bidding. Though Punjab Kings (PPKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) were involved in the bidding war, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) joined the auction soon after PPKS ‘exit. Refusing to give up his talent to Ishant Kishan, the Mumbai Indians-MI eventually won the bid, making Kishan the second most expensive Indian player in IPL auction history.

Mumbai Indians shared a video of Kishan happy to be reunited with five-time IPL champion. In it Ishan Kishan said, “Hello everyone, I am very happy to be back with MI. I know everyone there has treated me as a family and I’m so happy to be there and hope to do what I can when I join my team. “

Video shared by Mumbai Indians:

With the loss of Quinton de Kok to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), MI was keen to bring Kishan back and change the way they approached the IPL auction, having never spent more than Rs 10 crore per player before in the mega event.

Kishan was expected to be retained by the MI management, but the think tank instead retained Rohit Sharma, Jaspreet Bhumra, Kieran Pollard and Suryakumar Yadav.

Yuvraj Singh, who was bought by Delhi Capitals (DC) for Rs 16 crore in IPL 2008, is the highest-paid Indian player in IPL auction history.
