MSU President Gegham Gevorgyan sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of World Competition Day.

“As the head of the competition body of Armenia, today is an extremely important and pleasant occasion for me to congratulate the employees of the competition sector, business representatives and consumers on the occasion of the World Competition Day.

December 5 is celebrated on the global calendar as Competition Day since 2010 at the initiative of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. This is another good opportunity to talk about the benefits of competition in different countries of the world and draw attention to the problems of the sector.

Competition is the driving force behind business efficiency and global progress, as well as the long-term economic development of countries. Competition is the invisible hand that regulates the market imperceptibly to the naked eye, promotes business and makes life easier for consumers by creating affordable alternatives for products and services.

This year, World Competition Day is celebrated under the slogan “Prioritizing socially sensitive sectors”. This is a very important message that is based on anthropocentrism. Isn’t the overarching goal of all of our activities the well-being of people, to make their lives better.

Markets of social importance are and are the daily focus of the Commission. We pay extra close attention to compliance with the rules of the game in those markets. Among the commission’s annual studies, socially sensitive areas also necessarily find a place. Of course, the problems identified in these areas are not only competitive. They are comprehensive and require systemic solutions, combining the efforts of other government agencies, businesses and consumers.

Once again, I congratulate all of us on the occasion of World Competition Day, wishing effective work, well-being and all the best.”
