After Iran’s attack on Israel, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin held his third talks over the weekend with Israeli Defense Minister Yovam Galant, Day.Az reports citing Interfax.

“The Secretary emphasized that while the United States does not seek escalation, we will continue to take all necessary actions to protect Israel and American personnel,” US Defense Department spokesman Pat Ryder said in a statement.

It is noted that Austin also informed Gallant of his consultations with partners and allies “to strengthen international resolve in the face of Iranian aggression.”

Meanwhile, ABC News, citing senior American defense and security officials, reports that the United States does not intend to participate in Israeli retaliation.

“We believe that Israel has freedom of action to defend itself, whether in Syria or anywhere else. This is a long-standing policy and it remains unchanged. But no, we would not want to be involved in something like that,” the source said TV channel.

According to him, Austin, during a conversation with Galant, said that the United States does not plan to participate in attacks on Iran.

On Sunday night, Iran attacked Israel in response to the recent airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

Iran fired at least 200 missiles and drones into Israeli territory, most of which were intercepted by air defense forces, the Israel Defense Forces reported.
