With the film “Room” (2015) by Lenny Abrahamson, the tribute to motherhood continues, as part of the film screenings of the “Exavda” Artistic Association.
The Room is a literary Irish-Canadian film co-production based on the 2010 bestselling novel of the same name by Emma Donahue. It is a story of incarceration, which the director Lenny Abrahamson transferred to the cinema with particularly careful discretion.
Jack grows up with no images of the world outside “the room”. How could he imagine something he never saw? His mother, with an ever-worsening mental strain, does her best to provide him with abysmal security. Her desperation to escape turns into an obsession with escape and finally she invents the key to freedom… The first half of the film, brilliantly written and loaded with tension, intrigue and suspense, unfolds within The Room and captivates the viewer. .
With Brie Larson, Jacob Tremblay, Megan Park, William Macy, Joan Allen and others.
