From time to time hostility towards Christians, especially evangelicals, becomes more acute and constant, with many unbelievers resorting to mockery to embarrass those who serve Jesus. For pastor Augustus Nicodemus, the logic of the world does not allow those who do not follow Christ to understand the extent of their mistake.
On Instagram, the pastor of Esperança Bible Presbyterian Church, in Orlando (Florida, USA), responded to the following question from a follower: “How to be a believer and not be stupid to many people? There are people who think that being a believer is being stupid.”
Nicodemus, then, stated that Christian conduct is confused with foolishness by those who live in sin: “There is no way. For them, we really are stupid: we don’t do certain things, we are faithful to our wives, we are faithful to our husbands, we go to church on Sunday, we live following a book, reading an old book, we confess that we only exist one God, worship that God and follow that God.”
“We say we are sure that after death we will go to heaven. So, it’s really stupid. That’s how they will see it. There is no other way, the Word of the cross is foolishness for those who perish, said the apostle Paul”, added Nicodemus, referring to the first letter to Corinthians 1.18.
In the end, the pastor encouraged the follower who questioned him about the hostility of the wicked: “Live the Christian life, don’t care about the opinions of others. Live the Gospel to its fullest. Glorify Christ with his life, and on the day of judgment we will see who is a beast”, closed.
