(ANSA) – MILAN, APRIL 16 – Shouting, insults, threats but also physical violence to at least ten children aged a few months or less than a year or little more. Daily abuse such as vulgar insults, pulling and in some cases even ‘hands and legs on the back’ to prevent the little ones “from getting up” and ‘forcing them to sleep’. Four days ago, a 45-year-old teacher-educator from a municipal nursery in Milan was arrested on charges of aggravated mistreatment from 2022 onwards, following a house arrest order signed by the investigating judge Angela Minerva in an investigation by the Local police, coordinated by the deputy Letizia Mannella and the prosecutor Rosaria Stagnaro. And even children grabbed by the arm and then allowed to “fall”, causing them to “slap their faces” on the ground. Investigation resulting from the complaint from the Directorate of children’s services of the Municipality of Milan and from previous reports from other nursery school educators. Then, between February 7th and March 1st, the investigators placed microcameras and thus recorded all the episodes of “physical and psychological violence” against the children through “environmental interceptions”. And the arrest came. The 45-year-old, hired as an educator since ’96 and working in that kindergarten since 2008, shouted at the little ones, as stated in the provision, “if they cried”, with phrases such as “sleep spoiled..” or “don’t break.. ..”, or “he shook them forcefully to make them fall asleep”. In other cases “he covered them completely with a blanket” or forced them “to consume food quickly”, while he often spent time looking at his cell phone rather than watching over them, when, then, he didn’t hit them with “repeated pats on the sit”.
