Women pregnant in Santiago de Cuba They denounced the poor diet they receive in the maternity hospital north of that eastern city.
Images of the “food” served to these Cuban women while they are admitted to that health facility were published through social networks.
The independent Cuban journalist based in the United States, Yosmany Mayeta Labrada, was in charge of making public this complaint about the poor nutrition that pregnant women receive at the “Tamara Bunke” North Maternal Hospital in Santiago de Cuba.
In that sense, the complainant of the situation told Mayeta that “it is impossible to eat the food” that they are serving in the hospital.
Likewise, he stated that in that health center women go hungry due to the poor state of the food they are offered.
“This way no one can live, much less feed a pregnant woman. This food is useless and it is always like that, they don’t give you a snack, they don’t give you anything. “That’s Congris, eggplant and a chicken bone.”said the complainant.
The woman assured that this situation is a lack of respect for pregnant women in Santiago de Cuba, while denouncing that sometimes they must pay the guards to allow their relatives to enter the room with food.
“This is not easy, you cannot live like this, there is a lot of hunger in this hospital and the best thing is that many custodians have to be paid to let relatives come up to bring them food and see us”he added.
Journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada recalled that he recently reported a similar situation with food for pregnant women at the renowned “Los Ángeles” Clinic, “where pregnant women prefer to bring their food from home, rather than eating what they give in hospitals.” .
