“The next CAN will be at a very high level. Regarding the date of its organization, we will discuss it after the end of CAN-2023, currently held in Ivory Coast,” he said, during a press conference organized in Abidjan, in two days of the CAN final which will pit the host country against Nigeria.

“There are a lot of competitions that are going to be held at the same time,” Motsepe said, adding that “we are confident in our ability to find good dates.”

Commenting on the technical level of CAN-2023, the CAF president stressed that certain major nations have certainly not gone far in this competition, but other national teams have emerged from the pack and shown dazzling progress.

“Africa is proud of Ivory Coast, Nigeria and all the twenty-four selections taking part in this CAN,” he noted, noting that the objective of CAF is to raise the level football in each African country, particularly amateur and school football.

“The five countries that participated in the World Cup in Qatar (Morocco, Senegal, Cameroon, Tunisia and Ghana, Editor’s note) made us all proud,” he rejoiced, assuring that these countries will come back in force very soon.

Welcoming the work accomplished by the governing body of African football in the fight against discrimination, racism and corruption in sport, he said that the responsibility of CAF is to see the 54 African countries benefit on foot equality of subsidies from the African body, which target in particular the development of football across the continent, infrastructure and training.

“Africa’s success depends on Africans. The key to success is to work hand in hand, provided that we allow young people to contribute to the development of our continent,” he added.
