A concert entitled “Musical Bridge” took place on the stage of the Azerbaijan State Academic Philharmonic named after Muslim Magomayev in Baku, Day.Az reports.
At the evening, the founder and chairman of the Azerbaijan-American Music Foundation, famous organist Jamilya Javadova-Spitzberg informed the audience about the “Musical Bridge” project.
Then the word was transferred to music; the Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli performed at the evening under the direction of the famous conductor Farhad Khudiyev.
The program included “Jubilee” from “Symphonic Sketches” by James Chadwick, Suite No. 2 from the ballet “Path of Thunder” by Gar Garayev, “Hoe – Down” from the ballet “Rodeo” by Aaron Copland and the fantasy overture “Romeo and Juliet” by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
The performed works made an indelible impression on the listeners with their depth and beauty of sound. The audience rewarded the orchestra and conductor with thunderous applause.
Let us note that conductor Farhad Khudiev has Azerbaijani roots; he was born in 1985 in Turkmenistan. He received his primary education in Ashgabat, studying violin, piano and composition. From the age of 10 he performed in the National Violin Ensemble of Turkmenistan.
In 2001, Khudiev moved to the United States, first studying at the Interlochen Academy of the Arts with a degree in violin and composition, then with an undergraduate degree at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and at Yale University with a degree in conducting.
Farhad Khudiev is the winner of international competitions in the USA, Germany, Denmark, and Taiwan. He has conducted symphony orchestras in various countries around the world.
He is currently the music director of the University of Texas Symphony Orchestra.
