A pastor and three other people were seriously stabbed this Monday during a mass in Sydney that was being broadcast online, two days after the same incident that left six dead in the same Australian city, police said.

According to the local press, the attacker, who attacked while the pastor was reading the sermon, ended up being arrested by the police authorities while still inside the church. According to initial information, the police said that the suspect is cooperating in the investigations and assured that the injured victims’ lives were not in danger.

It is currently unknown which weapon was used in the attack, which took place at the Church of Christ of the Good Shepherd, in Wakelye, on the outskirts of Sydney, as well as the attacker’s motivations. In the live-streamed video of the sermon, a man dressed in dark clothing can be seen approaching the pastor before appearing to attack him.

Several other people tried to intervene, after which screams of horror were heard, according to BBC Australia. “The injured people suffered non-life-threatening injuries and are being treated by paramedics,” police said in a statement. The local community has been advised to avoid the area.

The stabbing comes days after six people were killed in a shopping center also in Sydney. The attacker was later shot dead by a police officer. There is no indication that the two events are linked.
