An Egyptian expatriate steals a “donation box” from a mosque in Benghazi

Members of the Bou Atni Police Station were able to arrest an Egyptian suspect after he stole a sum of money from the donation box in one of the area’s mosques.

The Benghazi Security Directorate said in a statement, “In implementation of the instructions of the Director of Security, Major General Ahmed Al-Shamekh, to arrest wanted persons and outlaws, and in response to a complaint filed by the curator of the Grand Battle of Badr Mosque in the Boatni area against an unknown person, after he destroyed the donation box and stole a sum of money that was inside it, a forceful move.” Security to investigate the incident.

The statement added: “After the report reached the Bouatni department, the head of the center, Brigadier General Adel Al-Obaidi, issued his instructions to search, investigate, and arrest the wanted person. Investigation members moved to the scene of the incident, reviewed the surveillance cameras, and the identity of the perpetrator was determined, and an elaborate ambush was prepared for him and arrested.”

The Directorate continued: “Through extensive investigations, it was found that the accused was of Egyptian nationality, born in 2004, and is called N.M.K. When he was confronted, he confessed to what was attributed to him. He also confessed to several other thefts, and he was placed in the legal custody of the center in preparation for being presented to the Public Prosecution.”
