Samsung has once again taken its position as the world’s leading smartphone maker, surpassing Apple. In the first quarter of 2024, iPhone shipments declined by about 10% due to increased competition from Android smartphone makers.

The news agency Reuters reports this.

From January to March 2024, global smartphone shipments grew by 7.8%, reaching 289.4 million units. Samsung took the leading position in the market with a share of 20.8%, displacing the American company Apple into second place with a share of 17.3%. Xiaomi, one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in China, took third place with a market share of 14.1%.

At the beginning of the year, Samsung released a new generation of its flagship line, the Galaxy S24, which sold more than 60.1 million smartphone units in the first quarter, which is 8% more than sales of the Galaxy S23 series in the same period.

While Apple sold 50.1 million iPhone units from January to March, compared to 55.4 million in the same period last year.

Cursor previously wrote that Apple’s support page noted that placing a wet iPhone in a bag of rice is not recommended. It is explained that this may cause small rice particles to damage the device. Apple recommends avoiding submerging your phone in water and states on its website that “resistance to splashes, water and dust is not permanent and may weaken due to normal wear and tear.”

Apple recommends minimizing exposure to substances such as soaps, cleaning products, acids or acidic foods, and liquids of any type such as perfumes, creams, and others.
