The United States welcomes the increase in humanitarian aid flowing into the Gaza Strip, but would like to ensure the stability of supplies.
As Day.Az reports with reference to Interfax, White House Advisor John Kirby announced this on MSNBC.
“The volume of assistance has increased, quite significantly, over the past few days: more than 2 thousand trucks were able to enter the enclave. In the last 24 hours alone, their number has exceeded a hundred,” Kirby emphasized.
“Aid is coming to Gaza. This is important, but the supply must be stable and long-lasting,” the White House adviser added.
Earlier, Israel announced the opening of new checkpoints designed to facilitate the supply of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and increase the volume of assistance.
In particular, for the first time since the beginning of the conflict, the Erez checkpoint was opened on the Israeli border with the Gaza Strip, leading to the northern regions of the enclave. In addition, the delivery of aid through the port of Ashdod in southern Israel was temporarily allowed.
Israeli officials also said they plan to increase the amount of aid flowing from Jordan through the Kerem Shalom crossing.
