The Ganja State Philharmonic named after Fikret Amirov presented a concert program of songs by the famous composer, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan and Dagestan Elza Ibragimova (1938-2012), the press service of the Philharmonic told Day.Az.

Honored Worker of Culture Mehpara Jafarova, Honored Artist Kamalya Tagizade, Soloist Samir Mamedov, Rovshan Mamedov, Rustam Jafarov, Ali Mamedov, Ruslan Nagdaliev, Yagub Yagubzade, Khayal Aliyev, Vasif Bayramov performed to the accompaniment of the Philharmonic Pop Ensemble. The following compositions are presented: “Lights of Baku”, “When I remember you”, “I would come to you in the winter”, “I’m gone from this garden”, “Let’s go to the wind”, “Gəl barışaq”, “Mehribánım”, “I don’t have patience anymore”, “Only you call me”, “My old days will return”, “The night is the beginning of the spring”, “Your voice”, “You will hear my voice”.

Elza Ibragimova was born on January 10, 1938 in Gadzhigabul. A graduate of the Asaf Zeynalli Music College and the composition department of the Azerbaijan State Conservatory (now the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli).

Her works are performed by famous singers: Shovket Alekperova, Flora Kerimova, Ilhama Gulieva, Akif Islamzade, Islam Rzaev, Elmira Ragimova and many others. Composers Tikhon Hrennikov, Georgy Sviridov, Otar Taktakishvili, Jovdet Hadjiev, Arif Melikov, Murad Kazhlaev, Gara Garaev spoke highly of her work.

Elsa Ibragimova also created a cycle of classical works, a symphonic poem, an oratorio, vocal-instrumental and chamber compositions, and music for various performances. Among the famous musical compositions, the operas “Afet” (the author of the libretto is Huseyn Javid) and “Burning Cradles” (the author of the libretto is Ramiz Heydar), which depicts the pain of the Karabakh tragedy, stand out. The composer also wrote music for the anthem of Azerbaijani oil workers for the 130th anniversary of the national oil industry.

Elsa Ibragimova died on February 11, 2012.
