Uijeongbu City (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) has succeeded in attracting the Gyeonggi Provincial Sports Association and the Gyeonggi Provincial Sports Association for the Disabled Northern Support Center and is emerging as a key city in the field of sports.
The city announced on the 16th that the final location for the establishment was selected through the Gyeonggi-do Sports Association and the Gyeonggi-do Sports Association for the Disabled Northern Support Center Site Selection Deliberation Committee.
At the Northern Support Center location selection deliberation committee held in the conference room of Uijeongbu Sports Complex on the 12th, seven deliberation committee members, including Chairman Lee Chung-hwan, and officials from the Gyeonggi Province Sports Association and the Sports Association for the Disabled participated.
Starting with a PT presentation by Baek Seong-il, sports policy advisor for Uijeongbu City, an on-site inspection of the offices occupied by the Gyeonggi Provincial Sports Council and the Sports Council for the Disabled was conducted. She reviewed and evaluated the area with a focus on administrative accessibility, convenience of transportation, status of sports facilities, and connectivity with related organizations.
Previously, the Gyeonggi Provincial Sports Association and the Gyeonggi Provincial Sports Association for the Disabled held a contest to select a location for the Northern Support Center for 10 cities and counties in the northern region of the province from March 6 to 25 and received applications from Goyang City, Uijeongbu City, and Yangju City.
For the relevant local government, the quantitative evaluation scores in a total of 5 areas, including ▲sports budget allocation status ▲sports population number ▲sports facility infrastructure ▲budget adequacy ▲city and county comprehensive evaluation results, and the qualitative evaluation score through the site inspection by the location selection deliberation committee are added to the final result. The establishment location was selected.
In the future, the Gyeonggi-do Sports Council and the Gyeonggi-do Sports Association for the Disabled Northern Support Center will promote balanced sports development between the northern and southern regions of Gyeonggi-do. In addition, it is expected to play a key role in actively responding to the sports welfare needs of northern Gyeonggi-do residents by building insufficient administrative infrastructure to revitalize sports in the northern region.
