The American rock group Dave Matthews Band will present last year’s album Walk Around the Moon this Tuesday in Prague’s O2 universum hall. He will perform in the metropolis after five years. Tickets for prices from 1,690 crowns are still on sale in the Ticketmaster and Ticketportal networks.
The group became famous for its unique mix of different genres, from rock to jazz and folk to world music. From the last album on the current tour, he plays the songs Break Free, Madman’s Eyes, Monsters or Singing From the Windows.
Dave Matthews Band last performed at Prague’s Karlín Forum in the spring of 2019. During the three-hour concert, he offered a cross-section of his work and songs from the then current album Come Tomorrow. He entertained the audience with extensive improvisation, which earned him a nomination to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a year later. Despite the wishes of the fans, he has not yet been elected there, but he will have another chance this year.
The group has several platinum albums and various awards to their credit. Since its founding in 1991, it has sold more than 25 million tickets and 38 million CDs or DVDs. She published her first album, Under the Table and Dreaming, in 1994. But above all, she has been tirelessly touring every year since then. Fans often attend several concerts in a row with her, which they are allowed to film.
The formation was founded and is still led by the 57-year-old singer-guitarist Dave Matthews, who became famous for his emotional vocal performance. His band is synonymous with energetic evenings.
Similar to other groups operating in the so-called jamband scene such as The Grateful Dead or Phish, they have built up a large fan base. The musicians have written over 1,100 compositions, they currently have around 275 in rotation, so no concert is the same. They also include covers of songs by Pink Floyd, Neil Young or even Talking Heads.

They received praise from, for example, the British The Rolling Stones, who invited the band in the 90s of the last century as opening acts on their Bridges to Babylon tour.
Last year, the New York Times published the stories of some fans who can’t stand Dave Matthews Band. For example, 42-year-old teacher Josh Roberts from Las Vegas claims that since discovering him as a high school student in 1995, he has attended 523 of his concerts, spending over $100,000. “They sing about love, depression, sex, things you get hooked on,” he explains.
Another listener, 48-year-old Rob Bokon, attended 154 concerts in 18 states, while Alexa Miller Hall, the same age, spent almost $200,000 on tickets to 164 shows and eventually found a husband in the band’s fan community.
Dave Matthews Band songs also made their way into the film. They were featured in the 2017 Oscar-nominated comedy-drama Lady Bird.
Matthews is not only a musician but also an actor. He appeared, for example, in the romantic comedy Try to make me laugh with actors Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston from 2011.
