According to the same source, the president of the FRMF and president of the National Teams Commission, Fouzi Lejkaa, held a series of evaluation meetings with Walid Regragui, dedicated to the participation of the national team in the 34th edition of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) Ivory Coast-2023.
During these meetings, the national coach recalled the different phases of preparation of the Atlas Lions for this continental meeting and the journey of the National Eleven which stopped in the round of 16, “which caused disappointment with all components of the footballing sphere”, underlines the press release.
These meetings, it is added, were also an opportunity to take stock and learn lessons from the participation of the Atlas Lions, especially the last performance against the South African selection.
On this occasion, Mr. Lekjaa insisted on the need “to continue the work and invest fully, in order to give the Moroccan team and national football the deserved place and make the hearts of the supporters vibrate with joy. Moroccans during the next competitions, including the continuation of the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and the 35th edition of the CAN which will be contested in the Kingdom during the summer of 2025, in accordance with the High Royal Solicitude”, notes the press release.
