“The Wild Woman” continues to make viewers fall in love with each screening. This time, Alan González’s film reached the theaters of the Malaga Festival where its actors, actresses and production team were proud of the magic of this experience.
“Yesterday was one of those days that I will treasure forever. I went to the cinema not only as part of the cast, but as another spectator, seeing the film for the first time,” Cuban actress Grisell Monzón wrote on her Facebook profile.
The artist described the experience at the renowned film festival as “magical in every way.”
Accompanied by several images, Monzón’s words on the social network also made reference to the rest of the Cuban artists who participated in the film, which will be screened again today, Saturday in the capital of the Costa del Sol.
“I felt immense pride in being part of the ‘Wild Woman’ universe. I enjoyed every moment, the greatness of Lola Amores as an actress and as a human being, the pride I feel when enjoying Alan González’s cinema, so particular, so his, so personal, so human ‘you feel so good there’, the photography of Lorenzo Casadio Vannucci and the immensity of the sound world,” wrote the Cuban resident in Spain.
Then, he highlighted the work of the rest of the cast, highlighting the performances of Yaité Ruiz, Odelmys Torres, Yailín Coppola, Jorge Perugorría, Andros Perugorría, and Leandro Sen. “Making a production like this in Cuba is quite an achievement, my respect goes to Claudia Calviño for that. With all my heart I want to congratulate the entire film team for such a good job,” she added.
Monzón did not want to say goodbye without stating that “watching Cuban cinema at a festival like the one in Malaga made me feel proud and privileged. “I enjoyed every second of my day, I enjoyed seeing them and hugging them, I enjoyed every reunion and meeting.”
Another of the voices that expressed their experience during the film event from social networks was precisely the Cuban producer Claudia Calviño, who described the screening of “The Wild Woman” as “exciting.”
“Nothing is better than discovering new things in the films that one has produced and seen a thousand times. Great Alan González, who knew how to put in every gesture, in every dialogue and action of the characters, the effect (sometimes excessive, and other times almost invisible), of the violence that we Cubans experience… sexist, sexual violence, psychological violence, and social and political violence,” the daughter of renowned psychologist Manuel Calviño wrote on Facebook.
In addition, he highlighted the work of his protagonist: “Animala my beloved Lola Amores, galactic talent; Lola is never an actress, she is eternally Yolanda. A thousand thanks to the actresses and actors of this film, to the wonderful post-production team and the great filming team, especially to my production partner David León, who made a superhuman effort to shoot this film in that very hard August 2021.”
“The Wild Woman” was selected among the 19 Latin American films that are part of the Official Section of the Malaga Festival, whose 27th edition is being held until tomorrow, Sunday, March 10.
In total, 11 Spanish films and eight Latin American films and another 18, within the non-competitive Official Section, including the closing film, make up the highlight of this cinematographic meeting.
Since its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last August, González’s debut film has not stopped receiving good reviews and more than one important award.
Just a few months ago, for example, it won three awards at the 33rd edition of the Ceará Film Festival, held in Brazil, in the Best Film, Best Lead Performance and Best Sound sections.
