Poland received the largest one-time payment in the entire history of its stay in the EU in the amount of €6.3 billion from community funds previously frozen for Warsaw. The Minister of Funds and Regional Policy of the Republic, Katarzyna Pelczyńska-Nalęcz, told reporters about this, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.
“A tranche from the EU reached Poland in the amount of 26 billion 964 million zlotys (€6.3 billion – TASS note) in terms of euros into Polish zlotys. This is the largest one-time tranche that the EU transferred to Poland over the last 20 years of its stay in community,” the politician noted at a press conference broadcast by TVP Info. She clarified that we are talking about previously frozen funds for Poland from the European Economic Recovery Fund after the pandemic.
At the beginning of March, the European Commission (EC) decided to release up to €137 billion from the EU budget for Poland in response to the start of reforms to ensure the independence of the judicial system in the country. As the EC explains, Poland will receive about €59.8 billion from the Pandemic Recovery Fund and €76.5 billion from the so-called cohesion funds.
