The solo painting exhibition of Costas Dio entitled “Retrospection” will be presented by the “Technochoros” gallery (Zygomallis 16) from Saturday, April 27th to May 25th.

The important artist presents a set of works, which highlight the importance of his painting. Paintings of different units, which, however, are harmoniously combined into a single whole, creating a metaphysical environment within the space of the hall.
Due’s painting captivates both with its design and color perfection and with its inspired subject matter. In a magical realism where the concept of time has been catalyzed, the great figures of art and anthropomorphic beings meet. The works are full of symbolism and references. It is a complex world full of hidden meanings that the viewer is invited to interpret or complete.
“Impressive is the use of many different techniques in the works that create an interesting visual ensemble. In Du’s paintings anything can happen, realism interacts with Van Gogh’s post-impressionism in paintings where oversized poppies adorn a landscape strongly reminiscent of the French countryside. In other works the artist himself becomes a color and with his magical palette gives life to everything around him. An idiosyncratic Archon of his own world”, states Art Historian Venia Pastaka and adds that Du’s painting “submits you with its subject matter and compels you to stand in front of it for a while. At a time when we are sinking more and more into deep darkness, the painting of Costa Diu is here to wake us up and remind us that the art that carries within it knowledge, has the power to activate and stimulate the mind as it is a carrier of ideas , of high ideals and goals”.
The opening will take place in the presence of the artist on Saturday, April 27, at 1 p.m.
