Nanny sentenced for violence against a minor in Žemaitija

This pre-trial investigation was led by Jūratė Arošienė, the prosecutor of the Šiauliai District Prosecutor’s Office, Telšiai District Prosecutor’s Office, and the investigation was conducted by the officers of the operation department of the Telšiai District Police Commissariat of the Telšiai County Chief Police Commissariat.

The pre-trial investigation was started when the child’s parents contacted law enforcement in the spring of 2022 regarding the nanny’s alleged violence against their offspring. According to the case, after the parents hired a nanny and she started taking care of the child, the latter’s behavior changed. The child became restless, there were suspicions that the convicts were doing their job improperly. The parents installed a video camera at home and warned the nanny about it.

During the investigation, it was established that the convicted babysitter had used physical violence against the child – this was recorded by video surveillance cameras. Seeing this, the parents immediately returned home and soon contacted the authorities. During the pre-trial investigation and during the trial of the criminal case, the accused did not admit her guilt.

The execution of the arrest sentence imposed on the convict was postponed for 9 months by the court’s decision. During this period, a woman is prohibited from working with children as a nanny.

The verdict of the Telšiai district court has already entered into force.
