She became the star of the pre-election presidential campaign and then the first cat in the history of state office. Eleven-year-old Micka, who moved to the Castle with Petr and Eva Pavlovy a year ago, has now died, according to the Blesk newspaper. Due to the illness of her four-legged pet, the first lady canceled her program in recent days, including a visit to the Zlín region.
“I know that I haven’t been very active recently, but even the furry family members, who we also have to take care of, don’t avoid diseases. Micka has been requiring care for several days and I would really like her to be able to run outside on her own again soon,” wrote Eva Pavlova at the end of last week on her Facebook profile.
“Animals give us a lot, we could often learn from them, but at the same time it is a commitment. The fact that we take care of them more at a time when they are not ‘up to speed’ is the least we can give them for their service to we can give,” reads her statement, which received warm reactions and wishes for a speedy recovery.
But after four days, the Blesk newspaper reported that the Pavlov family’s cat had died. The Castle refused to comment on the information. “Ms. Eva Pavlova will leave this question unanswered,” Petr Fučík from the first lady’s office told the newspaper. An eleven-year-old cat won the hearts of Pavlo’s supporters in the presidential campaign. Fans even printed her photos on T-shirts and hand-made banners with the slogan “Micka na Hrad”.
She spent the last year with the Pavlovs in Lumbe’s villa, from where she had access to the garden. Micka was a foundling who was sniffed out 11 years ago by the Pavlov family’s now deceased dog named Bob. Because it was cold, the lady took pity on the kitten, took it home and it never left the couple. Micky became the most loyal four-legged friend the Pavlovs ever had.
