On Sunday April 14, the association “Musée des nouvelles horloges de Salviac”, led by its president Myriam Gaillon, received the very friendly members of the Périgord 2CV club, and most of them came in 2CVs. The 2 CV club offers members the opportunity to go on trips in France and Périgord, to discover the monuments, but also to discover the heritage of the regions visited. Robert Gaillon, creator of the Museum and treasurer of the society, led the visit and presented the museum’s collection, as well as the watch workshop where all the heritage treasures were preserved and protected, accumulated over the years long During the visit, Myriam Gaillon, Robert’s daughter, who is also involved in the restoration of the old pieces entrusted to the museum, gave a demonstration of imitation wood using the 14th century method and wood engraving. Faux wood, also known as engineered or manufactured wood, is a combination of products, adhesives and veneers designed to resemble wood. As technology improves, this product replaces real wood aesthetically, and the processes to create it more environmentally friendly begin. The visitors were very happy with the visit, and were surprised by the beautiful, rare and perfectly restored pieces that are present in the Museum. They were very sensitive to the quality of the work done by the association in watchmaking and in particular the painting and imitation wood engraving using the 14th century method done by Myriam. The number of satisfied visitors, in groups or individuals, reflects the quality of welcome and the interest shown in the various and numerous pieces presented during the visits.
