Mumbai: Mumbaikars are going to get a big gift after the results of Lok Sabha elections are declared. Mumbaikars will be able to travel to Marine Drive via Coastal Road via Bandra-Worli Sea Link in just 15 minutes. BMC will connect the girder of the coastal road to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link by May 31. After that, in the first week of June, people will be able to travel non-stop till Marine Drive via Coastal Road through Bandra-Worli Sea Link.

Vehicles will be able to go directly to Marine Drive via Coastal Road
An engineer said that a bow string span of 2000 metric tons has been prepared to connect the Coastal Road and Bandra-Worli Sea Link. It will be loaded from Mazgaon Dock Yard (Nhava) and transported to the Coastal Road site by April 21. After that the process of connecting it to C link will be started. We hope that by May 31, the coastal road and sea link will be connected through girder. After that, in the first week of June, vehicles will be able to go directly to Marine Drive via Coastal Road via Sea Link.

15 km journey will be easy
A portion of the 10.58 km long coastal road i.e. Worli to Marine Drive was opened for traffic on 12 March 2024. Nearly five lakh vehicles have traveled on the toll free coastal road so far. The length of Bandra-Worli Sea Link is 5.6 km. In this way, by combining both, the journey of about 16 km will become easier. The official said that after the Bandra-Worli Sea Link is connected to the coastal road, this distance can be covered in just 15 minutes.

Time and fuel will also be saved
With the connection of Sea Link and Coastal Road, the trains which go to South Mumbai via Worli, Mahalaxmi and Peddar Road will reach South Mumbai directly from Bandra. Not only will this save people’s time, it will also save fuel. Drivers are driving at a speed of 80 km per hour on the coastal road. Due to this, drivers are saving 70 percent time and 34 percent fuel. The coastal road will be further extended to Dahisar and Palghar.

Traveling the entire coastal road since JanuaryDespite the Sea Link being connected to the Coastal Road, people will be able to move only from North to South, because only this part of the Coastal Road is currently open for traffic. About 87 percent work of the coastal road has been completed. The entire Coastal Road is expected to be ready by December 2024, then people will be able to go to Bandra via Sea Link from Marine Drive via Coastal Road from January 2025. BMC has claimed that when the coastal road opens at full capacity, 1,30,000 vehicles will use it every day.
