On April 16, an event dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding composer, Honored Artist Zulfugar Hajibeyov was held at the Niyazi Museum-Apartment – a branch of the State Museum of Musical Culture of Azerbaijan.
As Day.Az reports with reference to AZERTAC, the head of the museum’s department, Khanym Abdinova, spoke about the life and work of Zulfugar Hajibeyov, his exceptional role in the creation of musical theater. Her performance was accompanied by a slide show depicting the composer’s life and work.
Then the professor of the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli, People’s Artist Ulviya Hajibeyova spoke about the merits of Z. Hajibeyov in the history of music, and a researcher at the Academy’s Research Laboratory Fidan Nasirova made a report on the topic “Vocal-instrumental genre in the work of composer Zulfugar Hajibeyov.”
The artistic part of the event featured performances by People’s Artist Ulviya Hajibekova, musicologist and vocalist Sevinj Ibragimova, soloists of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, Honored Artist Sabuhi Ibayev, Ravana Amiraslanli, Honored Artist Elkhan Mansurov (tar), Sema Khamzayeva, Elmira Gafarova, Nazar Beylyarov, Rashad Hasanzadeh, Roza Salimova (piano) and the choir, who performed the composer’s works, presented scenes from the opera “Ashug Gharib”.
An exhibition of materials preserved in the museum’s collection, reflecting the life and work of Zulfugar Hajibeyov, opened in the museum’s foyer.
