Henry Cavill (“The Witcher”, “Man Of Steel”) is in pretty good shape, hardly anyone would dispute that. For his new film “The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare” a rather unusual training was necessary: mustache training!
Henry Cavill is one of the actors who has been showing off his impressive physical form on the big screen for several years now: while he was still sinewy and slim in “War of the Gods”, Cavill presented himself in “Man Of Steel” and “The Witcher” at the latest ” with a lot of muscles – and even in his appearances as Sherlock Holmes in the “Enola Holmes” films on Netflix, the frock coat stretches over his thick upper arms.
So it’s safe to say that Henry Cavill must have spent an hour or two of his life in the gym. But for his latest film, Cavill had to train a part of his body that he probably hadn’t trained before: his mustache.

In his upcoming film “The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare”, Cavill has a magnificent beard and mustache, building on previous beard films such as “Mission: Impossible 6”, in which Cavill’s mustache famously ensured that his upper lip in “Justice League” comes from the computer. But back to “The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare”:

Cavill was asked about his new facial hair and how it came about in an interview with the film site CinemaBlend. Cavill explains: “It turned out very beautiful, I think. I had the idea of having a really bushy beard and a mustache. Of course it took some time to let it grow, so there was a certain evolution.”
He always wanted to wear a twirled, waxed mustache look, Cavill continued. “But that takes training. Not just for me, I had to learn how much hair wax I needed for the beard and what I wanted it to look like. The hair itself also needs to be trained to stay in the right position.”
Without this training, Cavill continued in the interview with CinemaBlend, his mustache might not stay in the right position when it got a little warmer during filming. “All the hair wax would melt and all that would be left was a downward-hanging mustache.”
In The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Henry Cavill plays a character named Gus March-Phillipps, who is tasked with assembling the first black ops squad in history. In order to turn things around in the fight against the overwhelmingly powerful Nazis in World War II, March-Phillipps and his team are supposed to sabotage the German submarines.
Directed by Guy Ritchie (“Sherlock Holmes”, “The Gentlemen”), a huge star cast is assembled. In addition to Cavill, “Reacher” actor Alan Ritchson, Eiza González from “3 Body Problem” and “Snake Eyes” star Henry Golding as well as Til Schweiger as (presumably) a Nazi leader will also be seen.
