The modelling, the prompting of the agencies that… “rejected”, the sadness of not being elected, the difficult adolescence of her son and the new bet. Noni Dounia spoke to Grigoris Arnautoglou about… everything shortly before the European elections.
One of the most famous models of her time, Noni Dounia spoke to Grigoris Arnautoglou, when she was invited to The 2Night Show on Tuesday night (16.04.2024), about what she gained from modeling and the trend of the time, with the agencies requirements.
“Then the trend was French noses, to be a little Barbie in beauty. But there were few that had something special. As soon as I went to the agencies, they asked me if I wanted to fix my nose and I told them no”, described Noni Dounia.
“I stopped at the peak of my career. It was a limited market and then you repeat yourself. Why wear yourself out? Solve the problem of your life, no one has solved it. During the decade you will work, the money is good. But I don’t think any of us at that time worked so that we wouldn’t work again. It’s a creative job because you meet a lot of people and travel. I consider it wealth”, he added.
The ND MEP candidate admitted that… “I have many flaws. I’m opinionated, I’m a person who doesn’t change my mind easily. I really like my freedoms and independences and it’s not easy for a man to accept that. In a couple it is nice to respect each other’s freedoms. All this compulsion to control the other person, I don’t like it. It’s nice that the person you’re with remains the same as you met him. We love the person with his character, as he is,” he said.
After the conversation, he did not hide that “things were a little bit different with my son in adolescence. Everything was disrespect, no communication. This phase has also passed and we are fine. Our daughter I don’t think went through any puberty. Male puberty is a bit more special because females are more “developed”. In a school they are two different worlds. This is why I think boys go through a more difficult adolescence. That’s why there is now this proof of “I’m a dude”.
She and her husband have been together for 22 years and have been married since 2004. “My husband wants us to renew our marriage but I don’t want to. He wants us to have a party as we had invited them then, paired as they were then but it is not possible.
I had never dreamed of marriage. I wasn’t one of those women who wanted to wear a wedding dress. This was born out of knowing this man. It’s not that my motherly instincts woke up or that the right age came. I was fed up with wedding dresses due to work. It was in my mind that I would like to have a family but without any pressure. My husband is a man. He speaks with his actions and not with his words.”
For her engagement with policy, Noni Dounia did not hide that her non-election in the recent elections bothered her, especially the support she did not have from specific people.
“We have a tendency to sack people all over the place. We are not all the same. If someone wants to look up someone else’s work, they can look it up. It’s all recorded! There was no other member of parliament who followed as many bills as I did. I think that because that’s where the world has placed me, I have to be there. I am their voice, I have a responsibility to the world that put me there.
I felt sad for her not my choice. I’ve grown my audience but felt sad for the people who weren’t there for me. In my difficult moments there were always clearings. I’ve done a big clean up about who your friends are and who cares about you. I was very moved pleasantly because those who were next to me were not expected to be! I had a lot of tears of sadness but also a lot of tears of joy.”
As for the European elections, he said: “I am participating in the European elections for the first time. I will be away from home from Monday to Friday if I go out. It’s a great development for anyone, it’s an upgrade. You can offer in your own way! In general, I’m always ready, I’m ready for war. I’m not afraid to eat my face, to make mistakes. I am ready to give my fight, the world is the one who decides. I always give my fight, I never give up.”
