In a statement to the press on the sidelines of the inauguration of this exhibition marking the kick-off of the Qatar-Morocco cultural year 2024, Mr. Idrissi stressed that this is a unique event of a deep symbolic dimension in the sense that the collection of Berber jewelry is presented for the first time in Qatar, in consecration of the friendly relations between the two brother countries.
The jewelry on display shows great aesthetic value as they reveal a rich diversity from the point of view of shapes, materials and techniques used in their design, noted Mr. Idrissi, also curator of the exhibition and head of the museums division within the National Museum Foundation.
These jewels which captivate with their beauty have been selected to represent the heritage of all regions of the Kingdom, from the Moroccan Sahara to the North and from the East to the West of Morocco, he continued.
Years of Culture Qatar-Morocco 2024 opened on Tuesday with a special exhibition of Berber jewelry from the Royal Palace to the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, in recognition of the exceptional ties that unite the two countries, two brother peoples and two Heads of State, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God help him, and His Highness Sheikh Tamim Ben Hamad Al Thani.
This collection, composed of 200 pieces of historical and cultural importance, represents the diverse regions and ethnic groups of Morocco, from the Atlas Mountains to the southern provinces.
